Description
Friends of the San Francisco Public Library is a member-supported nonprofit that advocates, fundraises, and provides critical support for the San Francisco Public Library and related literary and educational programs. Friends of the SFPL is committed to creating an environmentally conscious and responsible workplace.  To that end, in becoming a recognized San Francisco Green Business, we:

  • Replaced all inefficient fixtures and lighting with new energy efficient ones, resulting in a minimum of $1,100 a year savings on energy costs.

  • Use computer, copy and fax paper that is at a minimum of 50% post consumer waste or higher with most materials used at 100%.

  • Use earth-friendly cleaning products, including janitorial cleaning supplies and others such as hand soap, dishwashing soap and air fresheners.

  • Are committed to a green work environment by recycling of all paper, bottles, cans, and composting all food waste.

  • Have eliminated bottled water use.

  • Order all materials from our printer, such as letterhead, envelopes, business cards and marketing materials, at a minimum of 50% post consumer waste or higher with most at 100%.
