1. Give periodic presentations reiterating your green programs and policies. Chose one or two programs per month to focus on (for example, "February is composting month, March is water conservation month").
2. Offer individual employee awards such as "zero waste hero of the month" or "energy and water conservationist of the quarter." Reward the winners with prizes such as gift certificates to local green businesses.
3. Offer team awards for resource conservation. For example, use the money saved in utility bills to take the staff out to lunch or offer as bonuses.
4. Organize environmental restoration retreats bi-yearly for the staff to attend.
5. Give each employee a copy of the Green Business Employee Training Guide.
6. Give each staff member access to the Green Business Program logo for use on marketing materials, business cards, to display in an office, etc.
7. Encourage staff to patronize other SF Green Businesses.
8. Give each staff member a coffee mug and/or stainless steel water bottle displaying your companyname and the San Francisco Green Business Program logo. This will encourage the use of permanent ware in place of disposables AND promote your green business status.
9. Whenever possible, host zero waste meetings and events, and advertise the fact you are doing so.
10. Post bike routes, transit schedules, and carpool sign-ups around the office. Offer fun incentives to employees who bike and take public transit.
