Synertel applied for San Francisco Green Business certification in early 2007. The year long process began with a 150 item assessment covering resource usage (water, paper, energy, recycling, commuting options, etc.), and continuing with multiple onsite inspections and meetings until the certification team was satisfied that Synertel had gone as far as possible! In the process, Synertel's existing green accomplishments were validated (energy efficient lighting, double-sided printing, motion sensitive lighting controls, use of remote access whenever possible to avoid truck rolls, environmentally responsible decommissioning of old systems, bicycle parking, discount commuter tickets, etc.). Building on that, the SF Department of the Environment helped us select less harmful cleaning products and install low flow bathroom fixtures.
