Description
The list below outlines some of the actions, measures and accomplishments that make the Orchard Hotel one of San Francisco's greenest hotels:
"The Orchard Hotel's developer and owner, Mrs. S.C. Huang, pursued a 'green' hotel for several important reasons. Studies prove that green businesses have lower operating costs, higher employee productivity, and happier, healthier occupants. We're confident that this next generation of hotels, including our new sister property - the Orchard Garden Hotel - will elevate the guest experience while leaving a much smaller footprint on our environment."
- Natural citrus-based cleaning products used in the housekeeping department
- Organic bath amenities offered in every room
- Light bulbs switched from traditional incandescent to compact fluorescent
- Plate & frame heat exchanger installed on the rooftop to decrease power needed for climate control and cooling
- 100% tobacco free, climate controlled building
- Low flow shower heads, toilets and 'towel use' program to conserve water
- Collateral/paper (yes, including toilet paper!) is 100% recycled
- Inks used on all collateral and stationery are soy-based
- All paper, plastic, and aluminum left behind by guests is now recycled
- Guests receive pre-arrival emails and post-departure thank-you email notes rather than traditional paper mail
- The Orchard Hotel is now LEED EB Certified.
- The Orchard Hotels is the 2nd hotel in California and the 4th in the World to have achieved this LEED EB Certification.
