Every day we are discovering how to be a "sustainable business", one that makes strong business decisions according to environmental, social and economic values.
- We encourage our minimization of disposable cups by offering a discount for customers who bring their own cups, and offering free refills on in-house coffee.
- We recycle and compost (we generate at least 5 times more compost than landfill trash) and invite our customers to join us by sorting their waste.
- We have invested in energy-efficient appliances and lighting as well as water-reducing fixtures.
- Our cafe furnishings are all recycled our repurposed materials.
- In order to reduce food miles and to encourage reuse of packing containers, we source as much produce as we can directly from farms within 100 miles. When we can't find a particular product nearby, we might invest in a partner farm's cropping system, buying seed, starts, or equipment in order to collaboratively create that local source.
Our effort to protect and sustain our planet's health is one piece of our daily commitment to building a fair and healthy food system.
