San Francisco-based David Baker + Partners, Architects, is well versed in the personal, political, and commercial dynamics of bringing new architecture into diverse, urban environments. Our work combines social concern with a signature design character, resulting in distinctive, high-quality buildings that provide residents with a strong sense of community. In this way, our work acts as an advocate for improved urban planning, where looking good only counts if it does good, too. Being environmentally sound in the daily practice of our office helps keep us philosophically in tune with our business practice of designing green buildings.
- We follow an extensive recycling, reusing, and composting program with an emphasis on reducing waste at all levels in our office.
- We provide incentives for employees to walk, ride their bicycle or take public transportation to work, and offer free car-share memberships.
- Two of our projects have earned LEED certification: Folsom + Dore Supportive Apartments was the first building in Northern California to receive a LEED-NC Silver rating; all twenty residences at Blue Star Corner in Emeryville are certified LEED as part of the pilot LEED for Homes program.
